🎧 “No cars go
Where we know
Between the click of the light and the start of the dream...” - Arcade Fire
This listing is for a PDF (instant-download) of the No Cars Go Scarf Crochet Pattern, named after the song by Arcade Fire.Â
To me the song is about finding safety in a quiet place where you can shut out the world and get lost in your imagination, which makes it extra magical.Â
The yarn used for this pattern is Yarntuary's semi-solid colorway No Cars Go, inspired by the chartreuse piano key on the Maxence Cyrin album Novö Piano where he covered the song.Â
This scarf is a ONE HANK WONDER! It takes only one hank of sock or fingering yarn or two hanks of DK weight yarn to make it. You can make the scarf in any yarn you like.Â
It works up pretty quickly as the entire scarf is made by repeating Row 2. Talk about mindless crochet! The stitches create a pretty pattern that you'll enjoy admiring while you work.
This is one you can wear 3/4 seasons of the year. It is light and less wide so you can throw it around your neck in a flash and not have to worry about fussing with it.
The pattern contains clear, detailed instructions and pictures, as well as an additional section at the end with step by step instructions and photos for ALL stitches used!

It is super easy to customize this scarf to use any yarn or change the width or height. The scarf is crocheted width-wise and at the beginning the multiple to chain is given for those who would like to change the width, for example, if you would like to make a shawl instead.
The skill level of this pattern is beginner. You only need to master one stitch and the pattern tells you how to do it step-by-step so even a beginner can handle this one. There is a section at the end that will help any beginner start to crochet with instructions and pictures showing how to make a sl knot, how to chain, etc. There are pictures and instructions for all stitches used in the pattern and I am here to help if you get stuck, but you'll probably do great!
To print without pictures, “Select All” in PDF and paste to a Word document.
