Hand dyed Merino wool weight 1 yarn in a variant batch (trial 3) of the Yarntuary colorway “Velvet”, inspired by red velvet cake (two-tiered) and named after the song by KIRBY.
This batch was made during design of the signature colorway, like all variants, and is not likely to be reproduced. This listing is for one hank from the batch.
Colors represented in the yarn are the rich reddish maroon of the cake and cream of the icing. Looks delicious, but don’t eat it!
The main difference between the final colorway and this variant is there is more red in these and a bit of a pinkish purplish bleed coming off of the red color.
The yarn is soft and the ply is gorgeous. It is also versatile in that it can be used to make socks, shawls, scarves and other garments.
This is a fingering weight, 2-ply, superwash, sock yarn, composed of 100% merino wool. It contains 399 yd and weighs 100 g.
The wool is sourced from suppliers that do not perform mulesing.
Each hank is dyed by hand individually and due to the nature of the process, each one is unique. There is not one that is exactly like another.
The yarn has been dyed using professional acid dyes and thoroughly rinsed in order to prevent bleeding, but I would still recommend hand washing on its own for the first wash.
Hand wash garments made with this yarn in room temperature water or machine wash on gentle cycle in cool water with low spin. Air dry.
