PDF instant-download of the No Place Like London Crochet Pullover Pattern, named after the song from Sweeney Todd. The deep smoky black of the yarn and the cold, modern parallel lines that run through the pattern remind me of the opening scene of the movie when you first see Sweeney Todd looking out onto the darkness of London in the Tim Burton film adaptation.
Not to mention, it is the perfect garment to wear when brooding, as Sweeney Todd does best! It is comfy and warm, and great for layering. I wear this when out and about, say on a day adventure, and I also like to take it to work because it goes with so many outfits and can be easily pulled on and off. The garment and has a modern, simplistic look.
Materials Needed: 5+ skeins Lion Brand Jeans yarn (100% acrylic, 246 yds/226m, 100g/3.5oz – Yarn Weight 4) in colorway Stovepipe (153) and an H (5mm) crochet hook
If black is not your style, Lion Brand Jeans comes in many other great shades, such as orange, blue, grey, maroon and cream OR you could use an entirely different yarn if it suits you better/if you are trying to use up some of your yarn stash. Although I used worsted weight yarn, I think the pullover would also look nice in a lighter weight, such as sport or DK.
I would say this pattern is at an advanced beginner level, but would be enjoyable for a crocheter at any level. There are pictures and diagrams in the pattern to make working through the instructions as seamless as possible.
Measurements of Pullover: Width = 42.5 in. Length (Shoulders to Waist) = 18.5 in. Length across middle/chest = approx. 13.5 in. Circumference of armhole = approx. 12 in.
There is not a specific size for this pattern, but rather detailed, easy-to follow instructions on how to customize for size as you go. You’ll find that any pattern I post that would customarily have specific instructions for each size (for example X, S, M, L, XL...) does not have specific instructions throughout the pattern, but rather guidelines at different points to tell you how to easily customize the garment you are making to your individual size. This decision came about after many years of following pattern instructions for a specific size and ending up with a garment I spent days, weeks or months on that didn’t fit right. Women are of such different sizes that we cannot easily be lumped into size categories. I want you to be happy with the fit of your garment and your hard work – hence the different way of doing things. Don’t fear, I have worked very hard to make sure these patterns can be customized painlessly following the guidelines I have given and in addition – I am here to help if you get stuck!
Your happiness is super important to me so don’t hesitate to let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
I hope you love this pullover as much as I do!
